Clik here to view.As I am sure all of you know, highly known and big celebrity QB Tim Tebow got signed by the New England Patriots. Now if you think he ever has a chance of playing quarterback for this team, please stop reading this, and go get your head checked, because it simply cannot, and will not, happen. Everyone plea’s the “Well no one ever gave Tebow a chance.. blah blah blah….”
Well let me tell you right now, that’s bull crap.
He had four years at one of the top Universities in the country, Florida, to develop the skills he needed to succeed as a quarterback. The fact is, he didn’t develop those basic skills. His ability to read defenses is absolutely atrocious. I have seen college sophomore’s play football, and read defenses a tremendous amount better than he can. Time in and time out I watch him, and he can’t distinguish the difference between when the defense is running a cover 2 or they are just running man-to-man. That is something quarterbacks learn in high school, honestly. He is terrible at recognizing blitzes, and his ability to audible at the line of scrimmage is less than stellar. His arm strength is top notch, don’t get me wrong, he has a cannon for an arm, but his accuracy is off. Way too many times have I seen him over throw a numerous amount of receivers, and bad too. Then he has also had his share of under-throw balls as well. Also, everyone knows of his terrible throwing motion. It is so unorthodox, and limits him on his ability to throw the ball, and his footwork as well. Also, I am sure you can recall that game winning 80 yard touchdown pass to Demariyus Thomas against the Steelers in the 2011 season. Well, let me take you back to that play. If you look at the pass, easily found on YouTube, and you look closely, you can actually see how terrible of a pass it was. Tebow threw it to where you never want to. It was above the helmet and behind the receiver. Luckily, Thomas made a great snag, and a few moves, and a nice stiff arm, and ran the rest for the 80 yard touchdown pass. Also, this play is illegal, and proven so by the NFL, because there were 8 men at the line of scrimmage, and in NFL, you are only allowed 7. That shows another sign of Tebow not knowing his pre-snap drills, and getting everyone lined up correctly.
So, I think that this can prove that Tebow will never be a starting quarterback for the Patriots, and never again in the NFL. Even when Brady retires, I am sure that Ryan Mallet will take over, or if not, they draft a much better quarterback.
Now, I may sound a bit harsh, but I do like Tim Tebow as a person. The way he interacts with children, and the foundations he has sat up, and his interaction with the community is great, I love the type of person is, I just don’t like him as an NFL quarterback. However, Belichick would not just pick up Tebow and use him for nothing, like Rex Ryan did. Belichick has a plan for him, and although no one knows exactly, I can think of a few options. Everyone knows how massive Tebow is. Tebow is a great athlete, and the Patriots will use his abilities. With Rob Gronkowski undergoing more major back surgeries, no one is quite sure if he can be ready for the season, and perform at a level that everyone is used to. Tebow has perfect size for the tight-end position. He is 6-3, and weighs in at 236. Having Aaron Hernandez, and the great coaching staff in New England, I think that Tebow could develop into a solid tight-end. However, Tebow will be utilized more. Currently, the Patriots do not have a full-back on the roster that has any NFL playing experience. This would seem like the most logical choice. Tebow is outstanding at running those short yardage plays right up the middle, and that’s exactly what he would do as a full-back. Even though Brady can handle those 1 yard QB sneaks with ease, it can take a beating off of him by having Tebow run those plays, especially as Brady’s career is winding down. This seems like the place that Tebow will land. Obviously he will appear in Wildcat formations, and I expect Belichick and OC Josh McDaniels to have a few trick plays up there sleeves, but I think Tebow will be utilized as a power full-back.
So, don’t knock on Tebow completely. Understand that he can never be an NFL quarterback that does not mean he cannot make an impact. The Patriots will find a way to utilize him, unlike the bone-head Jets, you can bet your money on that.
